The main season at Meådal runs from January to mid-March. Stable snow around Meådal has gradually shifted later in winter than in past years, so earlier winter dates are handled by request and depend on conditions and local logistics.

The direct booking price is NOK 2300 per photographer per hide day. The minimum stay is 2 hide days.

The package includes heated golden eagle photography hides, Red Cabin accommodation, arrival briefing, local logistics support, guide transport from the farm to the Red Cabin and hide area on arrival, and transport back to the farm after the stay.

Food, flights, travel insurance, camera equipment, winter clothing and dedicated private guiding are not included unless agreed separately.

Yes. Red Cabin accommodation connected to the booked hide stay is included. It is a simple rural cabin, not hotel-style accommodation.

The minimum is 2 hide days. A longer stay gives more flexibility for changing winter light, weather and wild eagle behaviour.

Plan to arrive the day before your first hide session, so you have time to settle into the cabin and prepare equipment.

The local team checks dates, guest numbers, hide capacity, transfer needs and cabin logistics. Your booking is not final until availability and details are confirmed.

Payment details are sent after dates, availability and practical booking details have been confirmed.

Mountain weather can change quickly. If weather, access, snow conditions or safety make the planned hide stay impractical or unsafe, Meådal may need to change, postpone or cancel part of the arrangement. If this happens, Meådal will try to make a reasonable alternative plan where possible. As of 24 July 2026, Meådal has not had to cancel a stay for this reason.

No. Golden eagles are wild birds. The hides and routines are prepared for good opportunities, but sightings and behaviour can never be guaranteed.

Distance varies with natural behaviour. Bring a flexible lens setup so you can work with both close and more distant situations.

Most guests use lenses in the 300-600 mm range. A zoom can be useful because distance and behaviour change. See the lens guide for more detail.

Yes. The hides are prepared for stable long-lens work with tripod or support options.

Other birds or wildlife may appear, but the stay is planned around golden eagle photography. No other species can be promised.

Yes. The hides have gas heating for winter sessions.

Yes. The hides have a dry toilet.

The normal setup is 2-3 guests per hide. The exact arrangement is confirmed before booking.

Movement is limited to avoid disturbing wild birds. Follow the host instructions about entry, exit and quiet routines.

The guide shows the Red Cabin and hide area on arrival. The hides are about 200 metres from the cabin, and guests normally walk this short distance themselves in winter conditions, following the practical briefing.

No. The cabin has a simple off-grid setup, with generator access for charging essential equipment.

Yes. Generator access is available for camera batteries and essential equipment.

No. There is no shower. Washing is done in a wash basin, and the toilet is outdoors.

Yes. Meals are not included. The cabin has a propane stove for cooking.

Yes. Pickup at Trondheim Airport Værnes before the stay and return to the airport after the stay can be arranged for NOK 1200 total per group.

Not if airport transfer is arranged. The guide takes guests from the farm to the Red Cabin and hide area on arrival, and brings them back to the farm after the stay.
